What the Heck Were We THINKING?

A look at some of the movies from our Netflix Queue. Though it is a somewhat eclectic mix, they all have the following things in common.

1. The Blond and I saw them when we were young and in love.
2. We remembered them fondly as pretty good films.
3. We told the sarcastic children how great they were.
4. They all bite.

Singing in the Rain
Sleeping on the Sofa… BORING

2001: A Space Odyssey / Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind
Over six hours, combined, of mind-numbing fascination with colored lights

Five Card Stud
I just remember Dean Martin being pretty cool. Apparently, that’s all my damaged cortex would allow me to remember. By the way…He wasn’t.

West Side Story
ONE great musical dance number does not make up for the other 3 horrible hours. ("When you're a Jet you're a Jet all the way...")

The Party
Peter Sellers & Blake Edwards made ONE great film together. This wasn’t one of them. Neither were five of the six Pink Panther films.

Bye-Bye Birdie
Bye-Bye Breakfast

Sorry man, I don't have a comment for this post, but I was very disappointed that you had Napoleon Dynamite under the "N" spot and not one(or all) of the National Lampoon movies. Also, Great Mouse Detective in place of the Godfather. And finally, Duck Soup over Dances with Wolves. Seriously, just because it's old doesn't make it better...unless we are talking about the original Manchurian Candidate.

Next on your Netflix list: Apocolypse Now
